Why a Purpose Foundation?
GreenSweep is in the process of becoming a Malta Purpose Foundation under Chapter 16 of the Laws of Malta. This is not the obvious choice. We could have been a registered charity, a benefit corporation, or even a traditional NGO. We chose the Purpose Foundation because of what it uniquely ensures.
Legally Binding Purpose
Our environmental mission will be written into our founding documents in a way that cannot be changed, even by founders. No future board can pivot to a different mission. The law itself enforces it.
No Profit Extraction
Founders and administrators cannot distribute profits to themselves. All revenue either funds projects or covers legitimate operational costs. The incentive structure aligns our success with impact, not personal gain.
Regulatory Accountability
Once incorporated, we will file annual accounts with the Malta Business Registry and will be subject to EU regulatory standards, including GDPR. Our structure provides transparency equivalent to a traditional charity, with the operational flexibility to innovate.
