Here's why the distinction matters: Traditional charities depend on donations. Fundraising cycles, grant applications, and donor fatigue create pressure and unpredictability. When a grant expires or a donor's priorities shift, environmental projects suffer. GreenSweep generates its own revenue through commercial partnerships and directs 70% of that revenue to verified environmental projects chosen by our community. This creates a sustainable, self-funding model that doesn't depend on charitable donations. Under Maltese law (Chapter 16), a Purpose Foundation is legally bound by its charitable mission. Founders cannot extract profits. Assets cannot be redirected. The mission is permanent and enforceable. In practical terms, the accountability mechanisms are as strong as those governing a traditional charity—we're simply funded differently. Why does this matter for you? Votes are not donations. You never pay us, and voting doesn't generate a tax deduction.
Revenue flows to projects through proportional voting, not through grant cycles or donor relationships.

His background spans full-stack engineering, distributed systems, and compliance-grade data infrastructure. He ensures that the platform's technical foundations enforce transparency and mission-locking at code level, not just in policy documents. When you vote for a project, you're telling GreenSweep where to direct its revenue. At the end of each funding cycle, revenue is allocated proportionally based on community votes. Example: If a project receives 30% of total votes cast, it receives 30% of the funding pool for that cycle. The funding pool is 70% of GreenSweep's total revenue. The remaining 30% covers operational costs: platform development, team salaries, legal and compliance, customer support, and growth marketing. You can change your vote anytime during the voting window—your choice is final only when the cycle closes.

When you create an account, vote, or complete your profile, our advertising partners pay us. These are legitimate, mainstream networks. Payments are typically a few euros per user action. 2. Matching Fund Partnerships
Philanthropic organizations agree to match community-directed funding. If the community votes for a project and it receives €100,000, a matching partner may contribute another €100,000. This multiplies impact without requiring additional user action. 3. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programmes
Enterprises use GreenSweep for employee engagement and CSR reporting. Companies pay us to facilitate employee voting and impact tracking. 70% during our initial operating period. For every euro GreenSweep earns, seventy cents goes to verified environmental projects chosen by our community. The remaining 30% covers operations. Our mid-term ambition is 85% to projects, and our founding documents will include a ratchet clause that only moves in one direction: more to projects. We are actively monitoring how quickly we can get there. The 30% currently covers:
