Wetlands International Philippines

A global organisation dedicated to safeguarding wetlands; the Philippine office leads mangrove restoration across the Visayan and Palawan coastlines.

Wetlands International is a global non-profit founded in 1937 dedicated to safeguarding and restoring wetlands worldwide. The Philippine office, headquartered in Manila, leads coastal mangrove restoration across the Visayan and Palawan coastlines as part of the Blue Natural Capital — Visayas & Palawan 1,700-hectare programme funded by the Blue Carbon Accelerator Fund. The team applies the Ecological Mangrove Restoration methodology in close collaboration with local community planters, the Zoological Society of London, and municipal partners. Their flagship Tacloban site (Nula-tula) achieved 96.5% seedling survival — a benchmark few mangrove projects match — and is being scaled across the broader programme.
